The Business Case for Wellness

Why the numbers demand action.

The Cost of Employee Burnout

$530B+ Lost annually in productivity, turnover, and healthcare expenses across U.S. businesses
66% Of employees report feeling some level of burnout, with nearly 40% experiencing symptoms weekly
$322B Lost globally to burnout-related turnover and decreased productivity
18–20% Lower productivity among burned-out employees compared to their healthy peers

Why Traditional Wellness Programs Fail — And What Works

Traditional programs treat symptoms. Ours addresses root causes.
$3.48 Saved in healthcare costs for every $1 invested in evidence-based wellness
$5.82 Saved in absenteeism costs for every $1 spent
2–3× Return on investment within the first year for most organizations
More likely to report no burnout or depression — employees who feel genuinely supported

"The question isn't whether you can afford to invest in employee wellness. It's whether you can afford not to."

She designed and delivered learning interventions across multiple industries, consistently improving work performance, employee retention, job satisfaction, and bottom-line financial outcomes.

Better YOU Challenge

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our 6-week corporate wellness program — for employers and employees alike.

About the Program The Better YOU Challenge — the basics
What exactly is the Better YOU Challenge?

The Better YOU Challenge is a 6-week, coach-led corporate wellness experience designed for busy professionals who want real, lasting results — without overhauling their lives. It combines a personalized nutrition plan, heart rate-based fitness goals, daily habit support delivered through the CoreSync app, and one-on-one coaching from a certified functional medicine practitioner.

The program takes a whole-person approach, covering fitness, nutrition, mindset, stress, sleep, and motivation in a way that fits around real work schedules and real lives.

How is this different from other corporate wellness programs?

Most corporate wellness programs offer generic information — a webinar, a gym discount, a printed pamphlet. Better YOU is built on three things most programs skip entirely: personalization (every participant gets a plan built around their own goals, schedule, and physiology), real coaching (not automated check-ins — an actual coach who knows each participant and adapts with them), and a consistency-over-perfection philosophy that makes results sustainable beyond the 6 weeks.

It is delivered by a functional medicine practitioner who has 15 years of corporate training experience — so it speaks both the language of wellness and the language of business.

What does "consistently good beats occasionally perfect" mean in practice?

It means the program is designed to survive real life. Most wellness programs are built around an idealized version of a person's day. When reality disrupts that ideal, people feel like they've failed and give up entirely.

Better YOU is built around the opposite principle: progress is more powerful than perfection. A participant who moves their body 4 out of 7 days and eats well 80% of the time will achieve far more lasting change than one who is perfect for two weeks and then quits.

What are the four key pillars of the program?

Better YOU is built around four evidence-based areas:

  • Nutrition — an anti-diet, personalized nutrition strategy focused on sustainable eating habits, not restriction
  • Exercise — heart rate-based, personalized fitness goals calibrated to each participant's physiology and starting point
  • Fat loss science — the 10X calorie burn method and metabolic strategies that go beyond "eat less, move more"
  • Mindset and motivation — behavioral tools and coaching support that address the mental and emotional side of health behavior change
For Employers ROI, logistics, and implementation
What kind of return on investment can we expect?

Evidence-based wellness programs consistently deliver strong financial returns. Research shows $3.48 saved in healthcare costs and $5.82 saved in absenteeism costs for every $1 invested — with most organizations seeing a 2–3x return within the first year.

Beyond the numbers, employers report improved morale, reduced turnover intention, and higher engagement scores among participants. Employees who feel their organization truly supports their wellbeing are twice as likely to report no burnout or depression.

How many employees can participate at one time?

Because the Better YOU Challenge is built around genuine personal coaching, cohort sizes are intentionally kept manageable to ensure every participant receives real attention and individualized support. We work with organizations of varying sizes and can discuss the right structure — including multiple cohort groups for larger teams — during a Challenge Introduction call.

Can this be offered as a voluntary benefit or must all employees participate?

The Better YOU Challenge is designed to be a voluntary offering — which actually produces better outcomes. Participants who opt in are more motivated, more consistent, and more likely to complete the program and maintain their results.

Many organizations offer the program as a subsidized or fully-funded employee benefit, making it accessible to all while keeping participation self-selected.

What does the implementation process look like?
  • Challenge Introduction call — we learn about your workforce, culture, goals, and any specific challenges
  • Program design — we confirm cohort size, timing, communication plan, and custom elements
  • Employee enrollment — participants onboard into the Nuvita platform and schedule their initial coaching session
  • 6-week program delivery — participants work through the program with full coaching support
  • Outcomes review — aggregated participation and outcomes data provided for HR and leadership

From first conversation to program launch is typically 2–4 weeks.

How is participant progress tracked and reported?

Individual participants track habits, workouts, and nutrition through the CoreSync app. For employers, we provide aggregate-level reporting — participation rates, completion rates, and summary outcomes — while maintaining strict individual privacy. We never share individual employee health data with employers.

For Participants What employees can expect
How much time does the program require each day?

Daily habit logging in the CoreSync app takes about 2 minutes. Fitness goals are personalized and flexible — they can be met with a lunchtime walk, a home workout, or whatever movement format fits your day. The philosophy is built around fitting wellness into your life, not demanding that your life reorganize around wellness.

What technology or equipment do participants need?

Participants need a smartphone to access the CoreSync app. The program also uses a heart rate wearable and a smart body composition scale to personalize fitness intensity and track progress precisely. No gym membership is required — all workouts can be completed at home, and virtual workout classes are available on demand.

What does the personal coaching actually include?

Each participant receives two private one-on-one coaching sessions with Nadene — one at the start to build their personalized plan, and one at the midpoint to review progress and adjust. Throughout the 6 weeks, Nadene actively monitors participant data and provides ongoing support, encouragement, and course corrections.

This is not automated messaging. It is real human coaching from a certified functional medicine practitioner who knows each participant's goals personally.

Do participants have to follow a strict diet or give up foods they love?

No. The Better YOU nutrition approach is explicitly anti-diet. Participants are not asked to eliminate food groups or follow a rigid meal plan. Instead, the program builds a sustainable, personalized nutrition strategy around "consistently good" eating — practical guidance for real situations including restaurants, travel, and social events.

What results can participants realistically expect in 6 weeks?

Results vary, but participants consistently report:

  • Meaningful weight loss and body composition improvement (past participants have lost 20–40+ lbs)
  • Noticeably higher energy levels throughout the day
  • Improved sleep quality and reduced stress
  • A fundamentally changed relationship with food and exercise
  • Sustainable new habits that continue producing results after the program ends
About Your Coach Nadene Richter — credentials and approach
What qualifies Nadene to deliver a corporate wellness program?

Nadene holds two sets of credentials that most wellness professionals cannot offer together. On the clinical side, she is a certified functional medicine practitioner (AFMP) and integrative nutrition health coach (INHC). On the corporate side, she brings 15 years of Human Resources and corporate training experience — designing and delivering large-scale learning initiatives across multiple industries.

What is a functional medicine approach and why does it matter for workplace wellness?

Functional medicine looks at the root causes of health challenges rather than simply managing symptoms. In a corporate wellness context, the health challenges that most affect workplace performance — chronic fatigue, weight gain, poor sleep, brain fog — have underlying drivers that generic wellness programs never address. Nadene's functional medicine background means Better YOU participants receive guidance that goes deeper and produces more lasting results.

Getting Started Next steps for employers and individuals
How do we get started as an organization?

The first step is a free Challenge Introduction call with Nadene. This is a no-pressure conversation to understand your organization's goals, workforce, and any specific wellness or productivity challenges. There is no obligation to move forward — it is simply a chance to explore whether Better YOU is the right fit.

Can individual employees enroll on their own?

Yes. Individual enrollment is available. If you want to experience the program independently — or try it personally before recommending it to your employer — you are welcome to sign up directly. Individual participants receive the same personalized coaching, nutrition plan, and tech tools as corporate cohort participants.

When does the next cohort begin?

Cohort spots are limited to ensure coaching quality, and they do fill up. The best way to confirm current availability and upcoming start dates is to reach out directly — either by booking a Challenge Introduction Call or emailing Nadene at nadene@sagebrushwellness.com.

What if we still have questions not answered here?

Nadene is genuinely happy to answer any question directly. You can email her at nadene@sagebrushwellness.com or book a free Challenge Introduction Call. She would rather you have everything you need to make a confident decision than feel unsure at any point.
